One of my absolute most favorite parts of Samaritan is that we send our monthly share direct to another family. At first glance people new to the concept have said, “wow, that’s different.” Yes, different and wonderful. Think about how incredibly great that is from so many angles.

• We know EXACTLY where our monthly share goes and what it’s for
• We are helping a fellow member directly and in full to pay off a financial medical burden
• We get to send a note of encouragement and a prayer, a related story, perhaps a drawing from our children
• Getting the kids involved in the prayers and card sending shows them early about how to care for others, even strangers. It helps make them aware of the needs of others.

I love the transparency of this method. I love being part of the solution for another family. It’s concrete, absolute and good for my soul while it reduces a burden for them. I can’t wait to get my newsletter each month and look forward to helping. I just can’t describe adequately enough how much personal benefit I get from sharing, and knowing how much it helps the recipient. Paying our regular insurance premium each month just made me angry and irritated. Not this. Samaritan’s monthly share makes me feel like I’m doing good in the world.
