Fox news had a story about a poll where 38% of people would rather pay the Obamacare penalty than actually get insurance. This was higher than the 28% who said the same thing in an earlier poll. Interesting. I’m guessing this is because the premiums are so high and the terms (with high co-insurance and deductibles) are terrible. The deductible/co-insurance may actually be the worst part. I can sympathize, the rates they are getting are terrible, ours were.
It’s too bad more people don’t know about healthcare sharing ministries. They could have a much more logical set of needs covered and pay way less for it. Plus the benefits of prayers, helping those with needs and being part of a community of like minded believers. I know it’s not a perfect fit for everyone, but surely some of those 38% would be so joyful if they knew about Samaritan.
There are 3 Christian healthcare sharing ministry choices, and a 4th which is religious based but more lax about it.
The Christian based ministries are Samaritan Ministries, Christian Healthcare Ministries, and Medishare are all ACA exempt. I’m not sure about Liberty Healthshare, if they are exempt or not. I don’t know how long they’ve been in business. In a later post I will do a comparison between them, as I did a fair amount of research about the top 3 before choosing Samaritan.
