Welcome to my member review site of
Samaritan Ministries!
We joined this health care sharing ministry in Nov 2013 after our Blue Cross insurance policy became way too overpriced for the value it was offering. We were desperate to find something affordable and looked at many traditional options with no success. At best we could save $100/month, but it was still much too high for our budget and the deductibles were outrageous.
After a friend suggested health care sharing ministries, specifically Samaritan Ministries, I began my journey into researching this “new-to-me” concept. These ministries have been around for 30 years and appear to be coming into their own and gaining in popularity. I liked what I saw and heard so much we decided to make the switch and are so glad we did.
This website is a dedicated review of all the research I did on Samaritan as well as the other two long established and nationwide ministries available. Each one has its benefits and drawbacks. While most of the site is dedicated to the ministry we chose (Samaritan), I have also included a variety of health care related posts and a comparison to the other two ministries (Medishare and Christian Healthcare Ministries). A comparison to Liberty Healthshare was also added later.
In December 2016 we had a surgical need that was paid for 100% by Samaritan member shares after only 2 months. The process was simple, efficient (online form submissions), prayerful and friendly, and talking to Samaritan staff gave us complete peace of mind that our medical need would be shared and the ministry had us in good hands. We also received the benefit of cards and prayers from members along with their checks to pay the bills quickly. It was so easy and we couldn’t ask for anything more logical. We felt that we had been led to Samaritan by the grace of God. It was such a blessing to experience a medical event with the support of the ministry and its members.
If you have questions I encourage you to ask them on the various pages, I will answer to the best of my ability. Since I do not work for Samaritan or speak for them I also encourage you to contact the main office of the ministry as they know their guidelines better than anyone and are so wonderful to speak with.
Good luck with your research, and I hope you find that a health care sharing ministry is a good fit for your family like it has been for ours. I look forward to welcoming you as a Samaritan member!
Galatians 6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Sincerely,
Heather Peters
